The Mission of the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office is to protect citizens, engage in crime prevention measures, and work to provide peace of mind to DeKalb County residents. We ensure residents are protected by engaging in legally and ethically sound activities and operating efficiently while pursuing justice. We place an emphasis on assisting victims and preventing crime through community education and engagement programs. We offer peace of mind by treating all DeKalb County citizens fairly and equitably and with dignity and respect.
The Law Office of the Public Defender provides legal representation to those unable to afford an attorney in all criminal cases in DeKalb County. We promote equal justice, fairness and respect for all people in the judicial system through effective and excellent legal advocacy. We are tenacious advocates for every client. In so doing, we safeguard the rights of all by providing exemplary legal representation.
Debra DeBerry, Clerk of Superior Court in DeKalb County is charged by the Georgia Constitution with the care, custody and control of DeKalb County’s records. In her capacity, she is able to observe trends in cases and has noticed an increase in both civil and criminal cases involving Mental Health issues.
Judge Berryl A. Anderson is the Chief Magistrate Judge of DeKalb County who oversees "The People's Court" and is responsible for small claims court, misdemeanor and felony arrest warrants, dispossessory and ordinance violations, along with TPOs for Superior Court intake in criminal cases and violations of the DeKalb County Code of Ordinances.
The Dekalb County State Court Probation Department is a full service law enforcement agency, made up of POST Certified, sworn officers who protect and serve the community and provide exceptional service to the Magistrate, State and Superior Courts. We also promote positive growth and lifestyle changes to offenders by holding them accountable to enhance the quality of life and well-being to the citizens of Dekalb County, Ga.

We welcome Axom~Roberts Legal Group team, COD ELITE, as a 2023 Full Court Press participant. They also engage in youth mentorship through Project Leadership, which uses highly competitive sports and educational competitions as gateways to broader societal exposure and leadership development.
The Office of the Solicitor-General diligently works to make a better, safer DeKalb County by preventing and deterring criminal activity through professional and impartial prosecution of crimes. The Office and its staff are committed to upholding the laws and statutes of Georgia and DeKalb County, while closely working with our police and communities to develop strategies that prevent crimes before they occur.
The Lawrenceville Police Department works to reduce crime, protect lives, and enforce local, state and federal laws. It maintains a criminal investigations division that conducts analysis of the violations of criminal laws, accidental deaths, runaway and missing persons, suicide and case referrals. The Centralia Police Department conducts vacation check and operates records and communication units. It has a special traffic enforcement patrol unit that is comprised of motorcycle and other traffic-oriented patrol officers who combat problems related to speed and other traffic violations. The department s communication center coordinates responses to police, fire and medical emergency calls. The Lawrenceville Police Department works under the government of Lawrenceville in Georgia.

The Georgia State Police Department provides law enforcement, security and safety services to the university community and the immediate surrounding areas, ensuring a safe environment for our students, faculty and neighbors. Georgia State boasts one of the largest university police forces in the state, with 171 officers across all six metro Atlanta campuses.
